Top 10 titles
Ranked by List Rank points: #1 earns 15 points each week, #15 earns 1.
How the scoring works
- Cumulative Rank (headline): each week, publishers on the list are ordered by that week's List Rank points. With N publishers on the list, the best scores N and the worst scores 1. Publishers tied in a week share the lower score. Weekly scores add up over the year.
- List Rank points: #1 earns 15 points, #2 earns 14, down to 1 point for #15, summed over every appearance.
- Appearances: one point for every weekly slot a publisher fills.
- Titles: distinct books a publisher has placed on the list.
- Average rank: mean chart position across every appearance. Lower is better.
- Title concentration: how concentrated a publisher's List Rank points are across its titles, measured with the Herfindahl index of each title's share of points. 100% means every point came from one title. A publisher with points split evenly across four titles scores 25%.
- Author concentration: the same measure grouped by lead author (the first author listed), so a series or a prolific author's several books count as one source.
- Publishers are named exactly as the NYT lists them, so imprints such as Little, Brown and Mulholland are counted separately. "T" marks a tie.
- A list counts toward 2026 if its NYT list date falls in 2026.
